Designed Objects: Prototyping Methods Lab

Centered around the principle that appropriate physical representations are essential in proving the efficacy of design proposals, this hands-on laboratory builds vital skills in model-making and prototyping across a range of resolutions and materials that are critical in a design studio environment. Students will engage in exercises that extend and refine their ability to embody and test design intentions and pre-conceived assumptions. In addition to utilizing SAIC?s workshops and resources, this class will investigate low fidelity mockups, hacking, casting and molding, wiring and electronics, electronic programming and building of structural proof-of-concept models. You must be a Master of Design in Designed Objects student to enroll in this course.
